Dr. Molly Schmiege
Dr. Molly Schmiege is originally from the northern suburbs of Chicago. Her mom made the mistake of letting her ride a pony at a fair when she was four years old. After daily harassment for a year, her mom finally relented and she was allowed to start taking riding lessons. She showed in the hunter/jumpers until college and joined her IHSA Equestrian Team. She graduated from University of Notre Dame with a degree in finance and then made a slight detour to John Marshall Law School, where she received her Juris Doctor.
Realizing her childhood dream of working with horses, Dr. Schmiege moved to Wellington, Florida and began working as a barn manager for hunter/jumper show barns. Over several years, she realized her favorite aspect was working closely with the veterinarians and doing everything she could to improve each horse’s health, well-being, and performance. She subsequently completed her veterinary prerequisites at University of Kentucky and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University. She then completed a private practice equine rotating internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, New Jersey. Dr. Schmiege is interested in general wellness, sports medicine and improving performance.
When not working with horses, Molly likes to travel, read, and explore the outdoors with her two dogs, Livy and Dottie.
