New Educational Series
This summer, Dr. Zdimal has been hosting a weekly educational series with the children attending the California Riding Academy summer horsemanship camp. This has been a fun learning event that will hopefully inspire some of these children to become our future veterinarians. In addition to working with the California Riding Academy, Dr. Zdimal also educates the riders of the Portola Valley Pony club on topics like general horsemanship, routine medical care, lameness and conformation.
Client Education Seminar
The client educational seminar was an opportunity for Bayhill to work closely with our clients discussing critical situations in a non-emergency environment. The basics of a physical exam, wound management, and bandaging were all discussed.
Each participant received their own stethoscope, thermometer, and laminated reference sheets listing the normal horse parameters. This was a fun event and we look forward to organizing more seminars in the future.
Highlights from Thermal
This was the first time that Dr. Browning spent the entire 8 weeks down at the HITS Thermal horse show. And what a busy 8 weeks it was! Many pre-purchases and pre-lease exams in addition to the normal happenings at any horse show. Weather was all over the place culminating with 100+ temps during the last week. Dr. Browning really enjoyed seeing so many Bayhill clients do so well at such a large venue, including Simone Otus Coxe’s Mr. Whoopy’s 2nd place finish in the $1,000,000 Grand Prix!
Dr. Browning Serves as Team Veterinarian at the 2010 World Equestrian Games
Dr. Browning was one of approximately 140 veterinarians worldwide to serve as a Team Veterinarian at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.
“It was an amazing honor to serve as the Team Veterinarian for the New Zealand Show Jumping team. The caliber of the horses and riders in all disciplines was incredible. The World Equestrian Games and the Olympics alternate competition every two years and represent the highest level of equine competition. You realize that when McLain Ward’s Sapphire is stabled right across from you and Rodrigo Pessoa and the rest of the Brazilian team are right next to you in your shed row. "
